Johanna Maria Jansson (born June 10, 1987 in Arvika ) is a Swedish singer and songwriter who performs under her stage name Dotter . She gained fame among other things through her participation in the Melodifestivalen .

Life

Dotter grew up in Arvika, but later moved to Stockholm to gain a foothold in the music industry. She was signed to Warner Music Sweden . In the fall of 2014, Dotter released her debut single My Flower . She chose her stage name Dotter, a Swedish given name meaning "daughter", as a symbol for "daughter of mother earth".

Dotter wrote the song I Cry that Sabina Ddumba's debut album was released in 2016. Together with other songwriters such as Thomas G: son and Peter Boström , she wrote the song A Million Years , with which Mariette Hansson competed at the 2017 Melodifestivalen . At the Melodifestivalen 2018 she appeared for the first time, she sang the song Cry in the third semifinals of the competition. Despite being considered one of the favorites, she failed to qualify for another round. She was involved as a songwriter on the song Victorious , with which the singer Lina Hedlund managed to move into the finale of the 2019 Melodifestivalens . Together with Måns Zelmerlöw , she appeared there as a guest contribution with the song Walk With Me .

In November 2019 it was announced that she would again take part in the Melodifestivalen 2020 with the song Bulletproof , although she had previously said that she did not want to compete again. She managed to qualify directly for the final in the second semifinals. Dotter was the bookmaker's favorite for the final and came in second, one point behind.
