Dracocephalum nutans is a species of scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum ) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).

description

Dracocephalum nutans is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of between 16 and 55 centimeters. It forms single to multiple, more or less upright stems that are unbranched or only slightly branched at the base. The stems are slightly downy in the upper area with downward-pointing hairs ( trichomes ) and less hairy and balding in the lower area.

The leaves are distributed both basal and opposite on the stem. The leaf stalks are 2.5 to 5 inches long. The simple leaf blade is broadly ovate with a heart-shaped, slightly truncated or broadly wedge-shaped base and a blunt or pointed upper end . The leaf blade is hairy at its base. The leaf margin is serrated or serrated.

The flowering period extends from July to September. The annual to capitate inflorescences are arranged in the upper leaf axils in pseudo whorls and contain 8 to 14 flowers. The 3 to 5 millimeters long, elliptical to obovate bracts have entire, ciliate leaf margins and pointed tips. The hermaphrodite flowers are five-fold and zygomorphic with a double flower envelope. The five purple-colored sepals are tubular or bell-tubular and fused to form a 3 to 5 millimeter long calyx, which is fifteen-veined, indistinctly two-lipped and fifteen-toothed, hairy on the veins and ciliate on the edges. The middle, obovate calyx tooth of the upper lip is 2.5 to 3 times wider than the lateral, lanceolate calyx teeth and has a short, thorn-shaped tip; the lower, lanceolate calyx teeth are long, pointed and have 1 to 2 millimeter long spine tips. The blue-purple colored and hairy, 12 to 19 millimeters long crown is two-lipped. The upper lip is slightly shorter than the three-lobed lower lip. The stamens rise above the corolla tube at most briefly.

The Klaus fruit breaks down into four partial fruits. The more or less smooth, dark brown partial fruits are ovate-ellipsoidal with a length of 1.5 to 1.8 and a diameter of 0.8 millimeters.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 10, less often 20.

Occurrence

Dracocephalum nutans is native to Central Asia in Afghanistan , Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan , in northern South Asia in Pakistan and India , in East Asia in the northern Chinese regions of Xinjiang , Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang as well as in Russian Siberia and southeastern European Russia. The occurrences in central and eastern European Russia are considered naturalizations .

Dracocephalum nutans inhabits sunny slopes, valleys and larch forests at altitudes of 1200 to 2600 meters.

Systematics

Dracocephalum nutans was founded in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus in Species Plantarum , Volume 2, page 596 first published . Synonyms for Dracocephalum nutans are Dracocephalum alpinum ( Kar. & Kir. ) Turcz. , nom. illeg., Dracocephalum microphyllum Turcz. , Dracocephalum nutans var. Alpinum Kar. & Kir. , Ruyschiana nutans ( L. ) House , Zornia nutans ( L. ) Moench and Dracocephalum nuristanicum Rech.f. & Edelb. . According to R.
