The Dras is a left tributary of the Suru in the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh .

The Dras has its source in the Himalayas north of the Zoji La Pass. It is fed by several glaciers, including the Machoi Glacier . The highway Srinagar - Leh meets east of Zoji La -Passes the river valley of Dras and follows the river. The Dras flows through the mountains in a predominantly northeastern direction. He passes the village of the same name Dras . 12 km above the mouth, the Shingo , the most important tributary of the Dras, meets the river from the left. The Dras finally flows 5 km north of the district capital Kargil into the Suru, a left tributary of the upper Indus . The Dras has a length of 86 km. The mean discharge is 212 m³ / s.
