The Trinity Chapel Vettweiß is on the outskirts of Vettweiß in the district of Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Building

The chapel was built from bricks , which were then plastered. The window and door frames are made of red sandstone, the door of sheet iron. The building has a slate roof. The chapel has a diameter of 6 m.

A house next to the chapel, formerly an inn , was completely destroyed in the Second World War . In the village there is the house name "aan Kapelle", which is probably related to the former residents of the destroyed house.

The chapel stands on the Frankfurt-Aachen Coronation Road, which was used in earlier centuries by the German kings on their way to Aachen for the coronation of emperors. On Trinity Sunday , the 1st Sunday after Pentecost , a procession moves from the parish church in Vettweiß to the chapel, where a prayer “is held”. On the way there and back the rosary is prayed, on the way there with an addition to St. Trinity, on the way back to St. Donatus.
