The church is registered under number Dis-3 in the list of monuments of the municipality of Vettweiß .
history
A church in Disternich is documented as early as 1147. There are no more traces of this church.
Today's Disternich Church was built in the 18th century in the Baroque style. The church is a single- hall building with three sides closed choir from 1724 and geostetem bell tower to the east in the year 1649. In the West, to the nave grown a small porch.
Since 2010, St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Disternich is no longer an independent parish. It became with the former parishes of St. Gereon (Vettweiß), St. Michael (Kelz), St. Antonius (Ginnick), St. Gangolf (Soller), St. Jakobus the Elder (Jakobwüllesheim), St. Johann Baptist (Sievernich) , St. Amandus (Müddersheim), St. Martin (Froitzheim) and St. Petrus (Gladbach) merged to form the parish of St. Marien, Vettweiß.
Furnishing
In the church there is a baroque high altar , as well as two baroque side altars and an equally baroque confessional . A side altar can be converted into a pulpit in just a few simple steps . The windows of the church are simple workshop designs from the post-war period and the church pews were probably created around 1900.
organ
The organ is a work by the Bonn organ builder Johannes Klais from 1887 (Opus MV 14). It has a fully mechanical sliding drawer and was restored in 1998 by the builder company. The disposition is as follows:
