Trinity Church (Lavamünd)

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche Lavamünd , also known as the Kalvarienbergkirche , is visible from afar on a rocky hill around 120 meters above Lavamünd and is a branch church of the Lavamünd parish . The house of God goes back to a foundation of the Count von Neuhäusl as thanks for his liberation from Turkish captivity.

Building description

The choir , built as a Calvary Chapel in 1690, was expanded to include the nave in 1725 . The choir is considerably lower than the nave and swings out slightly on the sides. The church tower, which protrudes slightly from the choir, has twin windows on the bell floor and is crowned by an onion helmet. A group of crucifixions cut from sheet metal hangs on the facade of the choir tower . The nave, divided by plaster pilasters, has rectangular windows and blinds on the north side.

In the three-bay nave, a flat barrel decorated with stucco ridges and stuccoed flower branches rises above pilasters with stitch caps . The triaxial, cross-arched west gallery rests on thick round pillars. The one-yoke choir has a straight ending.

Facility

The three-storey high altar with sacrificial portals , created at the end of the 17th century, is structured by pilasters and cranked cornices . The altar bears carved statues of the Holy Trinity from around 1700 as well as a Sorrowful Mother of God . The tabernacle was made around 1730. The two side altars date from the beginning of the 18th century, on the left altar panel you can see St. Dismas , on the right St. Domitian . The pulpit , created around 1720/25, is decorated with inlays . The church also features a procession pole made around 1700 with a carved group of a mercy seat .
