The Dreimarkstein is a 1948 m above sea level. A. high summit of the Rax massif on the Styrian - Lower Austrian border.
location
The Dreimarkstein is located 3 kilometers northeast of the Heukuppe , the main Rax summit, in the municipality of Neuberg an der Mürz . South after the Trinksteinsattel ( 1850 m above sea level ) lies the Predigtstuhl ( 1902 m above sea level ). The ridge goes north to the Bieskogel ( 1924 m above sea level ), northwest to the Scheibwaldhöhe ( 1943 m above sea level ). This is where the Große Kesselgraben extends from the Höllental of the Schwarza above Reichenau an der Rax , where the Gloggnitzer Hut is located. To the east is the Große Höllental with the Wolfgang Dirnbacher Hut . West lies the Habsburg house , southwest of the Krummtal , the high valley of Reißbachtals at Hinternaßwald , community Schwarzau in the mountains .
About the name
It got its name as the border of the three dominions Neuberg (former property of the Steyer Cistercian monastery Neuberg ), Gutenstein (long Hoyos'sche Latifundien) and Reichenau (also long Stift-Neubergisch), the latter both belonging to Austria . Today, however, the Styrian border leads around 300 meters to the north and east around the summit, and the summit belongs entirely to chapels .
ways
The summit is crossed on the north-west ascent to the Rax, i.e. Kesselgraben - Gloggnitzer Hütte or Großes Höllental –Wolfgang-Dirnbacher-Hütte as well as via the Rudolfsteig (on the ridge between the small and large Höllental). Directly south below you meet the Nordalpenweg (WW01) from the great Höllental or the Lower Austrian Landesrundwanderweg (NLW) from the Habsburghaus, where you continue to the Rax main summit. This tour is the Great Rax crossing, attractive in both directions, but strenuous.
