The Drusentor (also: Drusator ) is a mountain pass (pass height 2341 m above sea level ) in the Alps ( Eastern Alps , Northern Limestone Alps ). It is located between the Austrian (state of Vorarlberg ) and the Prättigau in the canton of Graubünden ( Switzerland ). The Drusentor is part of the Drusenfluh mountain range .
Surname
As druse or drusen are popularly referred to in the region as Alpine alder (also: thrush , Laublatsche , Bergerle or birch alder ) from the alder genus . At this altitude, it is often a plant that creeps on the slope due to the pressure of snow. After ennoblement , Druze is said to have descended from fallen .
Location and special features
The Drusentor is located in the municipality of Tschagguns , the town of Tschagguns about 8 km as the crow flies. It is about 2850 meters as the crow flies to the municipal boundary to Vandans . After St. Antönien in Switzerland is around 6 km, according Schiers km 11.5 crow flies. In the immediate vicinity of the Drusentor (1100 meters as the crow flies ) to the northwest are the Drei Türme (up to 2830 m , also called the Dri Türm or three Drusentürme ), three peaks in the Drusenfluh group and about 2200 meters away the Drusenfluh ( 2827 m ).

The closest hiking base is the Lindauer Hütte , from which it takes about 2.5 hours to reach the Drusentor. The area is mostly inhospitable and requires good footwear, good surefootedness and a head for heights in some passages. Rapid cold spells can also occur in summer.
