The Lindauer Hütte is a refuge of the Lindau section of the German Alpine Club . It is located in the Gauertal just below the tree line at the foot of the Drei Türme at 1744 m above sea level. A. in the Rätikon in the Montafon in Vorarlberg . Due to its elevated position on a moraine ridge, it has so far been spared from avalanches.
In the alpine garden created in 1907 right next to the hut, plants from the alpine area are shown.
History and description
Today's very large building is based on a two-story, wooden, real "hut" from 1899, which is much smaller, measuring around 11 m × 11 m. It contained a small dining room, a room each for landlords and mountain guides, a small kitchen and several bedrooms, as well as a dormitory in the rooftop. At the beginning of the 20th century, the wooden dormitory (which was then separate) was built on the east side. This was followed by the extension of the first building (construction of the veranda) to the south. The wooden wall with windows now standing in the middle of the dining room was the southern outer wall of the original hut. In addition, after the Second World War, rooms for tenants and staff were created in a stone extension on the east side of the sleeping quarters. Official requirements resulted in an expansion of the kitchen around 1993. In the course of this, the intermediate building connecting the main house and the sleeping quarters was built, in the roof of which another mattress store was installed. In 2008 the main building was increased by one floor, which was connected with a new construction of the sanitary facilities and the construction of a fire-resistant staircase. The whole building can be heated, which makes winter operation possible.
A few years ago, the sewage treatment plant was rebuilt with the building now visible below the hut in the direction of Geißspitze.
The "Herberge", a wooden barrack with 56 mattress dormitories, which is mainly used by youth groups, still stands near the Alpine garden.
In 1958, the then tenant Fritz Moosmann countered the usual bad habit of disposing of hut waste in the vicinity of the huts by building a waste transport trailer. The house has been awarded the environmental quality seal of the German and Austrian Alpine Club. It is supplied and disposed of by off-road vehicles and trucks in summer and by snowmobiles in winter. There is a connection to the power grid via an underground cable. Electricity and wood are used for heating and liquid gas is used for cooking. The water contained in the Öfatal is of excellent quality.
Access
The shortest way to get to the Lindauer Hütte is from the Golmerbahn mountain station (1890 m) via the Latschätzer Höhenweg . It leads (family-friendly) almost flat around the Grüneck (beautiful view!) And then gradually descends to the upper Latschätzalpe. After a short ascent, you hike to the Lindauer Hut without major differences in altitude.
A little further is the access via the Golmer Höhenweg : From the mountain station you first have to climb an ascent until you reach the level of the ridge path on the Golmer Joch ( 2124 m ) and the Latschätzkopf ( 2219 m ). After crossing the slopes of the "Wilder Mannle" (2291 m), continue to climb to the Geißspitze ( 2334 m ), and from its summit to the Lindauer Hut.
Alternatively, a shady forest path leads from the middle station (1521 m) of the Golmerbahn near Matschwitz via Wachters Deja to the upper Latschätzalpe. There you meet the Latschätzer Höhenweg.
The Lindauer Hütte can also be reached via the road that leads directly from Latschau near the Golmerbahn valley station over the pasture area of the lower Latschätzalpe up to the hut. This path is the only one that is also prepared as a winter hiking path. After intense snowfall, it may be temporarily closed due to the risk of avalanches. The busy road can be bypassed in the lower part by climbing over the Sanüelalpe. At about the level of the Gauertalhaus you come across the road again, the bends of which can be shortened on hiking trails in the upper part.
