Dry Creek is mainly an industry-dominated suburb in northern Adelaide , in the area of which there are large wetlands and salt lakes that are used by the Cheltenham Salt company as a salt mine.
The suburbs of Cavan, Gepps Cross, Kilburn, Regency Park and Wingfield are adjacent to Dry Creek. In Dry Creek is a station of the Gawler Railway , the 10.6 km from the main railway from Adelaide is, and the former Dry Creek explosives depot .
Wetlands
The Dry Creek Wetlands are made up of various sections that begin at the eastern end of the suburb and extend into the Dry Creek catchment area. They form part of the floodplain of the administrative areas of Salisbury City and Port Adelaide Enfield City and are connected to numerous drains that form from the Adelaide Plains and the flood channels . Some of the wetlands have been drained, but the success has been small.
The wetlands form the flora and fauna of one of the southernmost mangrove areas on earth with the vegetation of the Tecticornia with a large bird and fish population. The northern arm of Dry Creek drains into Barker Inlet in the Gulf of St. Vincent .
