The Dubai is a mega yacht owned by Sheikh Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum , the ruler of the Emirates Dubai . The 162 meter long yacht is number 4 on the list of the longest motor yachts (as of 2018).

history

The Dubai was commissioned in 1995 under various project names (“Panhandle”, “Golden Star”) and originally built in cooperation with the German shipyards Blohm + Voss and Lürssen . In 1997, however, the construction contract was stopped by the client and in 2001 it went to the new owner, Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum, the ruler of the Emirates Dubai . The ship including the floating dock was transported to Dubai via Turkey with the Blue Marlin . The Dubai-based Platinum Yachts FZCO shipyard continued to build the ship under the project name Platinum and handed it over to the owner in 2006. The yacht has a berth in front of the northern of the two artificial Logo Islands , the private island of Al Maktums.

With a length of 162 meters, the yacht was the largest mega-yacht in the world from 2006 to 2009, but was replaced on June 12, 2009 by the Eclipse , also built by B + V , with a hull length of 163 meters.

Furnishing

The design of the ship was created by "Andrew Winch Designs". The facilities include a helicopter landing pad for helicopters up to a maximum of 9.5 tons, two 10 m long motor boats, a dining room for 90 guests and a 10 m swimming pool including cataracts on deck. The yacht also has a disco , a cinema , 20 water bikes, a submarine , a lobster tank and a squash court. The Dubai is divided into eight decks and can accommodate up to 88 crew members and 115 guests. The four MTU -20V diesel engines each produce 6,301  kW and accelerate the ship to up to 26  knots . With the 1.2 million liter diesel tanks, the Dubai is able to cover a distance of 8,500  nautical miles .
