action

1890, in Arizona. Larry McGow is finally an adult. He is allowed to lead his father's cattle barge to the pass, where his older brother Don, in whose shadow he stands, is supposed to take over. Don, who defended himself against an attack by the bandit Smokey Jim, does so too. Larry feels reset; his burning ambition leads him to develop hatred, to leave the trek and ride away. Don hands over foreman Quents the herd and rides to his father.

When the two learn that the herd has been stolen and that Quents has been shot, Don sets out to find the criminals. Soon he is accompanied by the little crook Punch and his girlfriend Nancy. You get on the trail of the bandit chief Angel Kid, who has recently spread horror in the area. Fearing that Larry could also have killed Larry, they step up their search. When Don and the bandit boss Angel Kid face each other, Don realizes that he has to shoot himself with his own brother. When it comes to the duel, Don shoots the gun out of his hand to incapacitate him; his father, who shoots at the same time, fatally kills the Angel Kid.

criticism

"Moderately exciting Euro Western with the usual degree of hardness."

“The film is not convincing, although director Lahola was clearly trying to bring his story to a high level. But the pathetic excesses in no way justify the simple construction. In addition, the plot lacks whistle and speed, the characters lack inner tension. Peter van Eyck also seems incredible as a Westerner. On the other hand, the landscape photos from Yugoslavia are well done. "

Joe Hembus ' judgment was harsh: “Insane ideas of a European intellectual about a noble western. Most of the story is stolen from "Duel at Dawn"; Wolfgang Kieling grimaces in a horrible way. "

Remarks

In the German version, Mario Girotti is dubbed for the first time by Thomas Danneberg .

The Italian title is Sparate a vista su Killer Kid .
