Alexander Grueter

Alexander Grüter (born August 14, 1907 in Bottrop , † December 7, 1989 in Munich ) was a German film producer and association official.

Live and act

Grüter began to study law and political science at the University of Rostock in the summer of 1927 . In 1928 he became active in the Corps Visigothia Rostock. At the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen he was in 1936 for Dr. iur. PhD. He then served until 1939 as a lawyer in the Silesian Legnica before joining the General Counsel was appointed to the Silesian concrete and cement industry.

After his military service and brief imprisonment, Grüter switched to the film industry. In 1946 he was one of the founders of the Hamburg- based Camerafilm GmbH, which helped finance important cinema productions (including Helmut Käutner's In those Days and Rudolf Jugert's Untitled Film ). In 1949 he founded the Filmfinanzierungs GmbH together with Rudolf Oetker and Julius de Crignis.

In 1951, Grüter became head of the Corona production company. As a producer or production manager, he was responsible for a number of sometimes ambitious entertainment films, including some carefully crafted and celebratory, albeit hardly original biographies ( Sauerbruch - That was my life , Anastasia, the last daughter of the Tsar , Made in Germany ). In 1960/61 he also produced several less ambitious comedies with Willy Millowitsch . Since the early 1960s, with the Corona, he has been concentrating on participation in international, in some cases high-profile film productions.

In addition to his active work as a producer, Grüter had been chairman of the Association of German Feature Film Producers since 1964 and from 1966 belonged to the three-person executive committee of the leading organization of the film industry (SPIO). He also worked as deputy chairman and temporary president of the film funding agency .
