Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (born February 15, 1984 ), known as the Duffer Brothers or The Duffer Brothers , are American directors and screenwriters of science fiction and horror films and series. The twin brothers achieved international fame through their 2016 science fiction mystery series  Stranger Things , which is  broadcast on  Netflix .

life and career

The Duffer brothers grew up in Durham , North Carolina . You started making films with a Hi8 video camera in third grade . After school, she studied directing at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts of Chapman University in Orange , California , where in 2007 they finished their studies. After several short films, the screenplay for the 2015 film Hidden was acquired by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2011. The Duffer brothers directed this in 2012. Director M. Night Shyamalan read the script and hired her to write and produce on the Fox television series Wayward Pines .

Stranger Things

Through the experience on television, they started writing Stranger Things . After Shawn Levy got in touch with his production company 21 Lapse and wanted to make the series a reality, it was quickly taken over by Netflix .

The series takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins , Indiana , in 1983 and is a tribute to the pop culture of the 1980s years. It is inspired by the work of various directors and authors such as Steven Spielberg , John Carpenter , Stephen King and George Lucas .

After its premiere in summer 2016, the series received excellent reviews. She was largely praised for the characters, montage rhythm , atmosphere, acting, music, direction, screenplay, and the homage to other films of the 1980s.

Netflix announced a second season on August 31, 2016. The nine episodes were released on Netflix on October 27, 2017.

On July 4, 2019, the third season with eight episodes was released on Netflix.
