The Duke of Northumberland's River is a watercourse in Greater London , England . It is separated from the River Colne on the northwest corner of Heathrow Airport near Longford . It flows parallel to the Longford River to the west and south of the airport. However, while the Longford River branches off to the southeast at Feltham, the Duke of Northumberland's River continues its course in an easterly direction. It flows west of Hunslow Heath into the River Crane . ( 51 ° 27 ′ 35 ″  N , 0 ° 24 ′ 5 ″  W ) In Twickenham the Duke of Northumberland 'River separates from the River Crane ( 51 ° 26 ′ 50 ″  N , 0 ° 20 ′ 50 ″  W ) and flows first northwards west of Twickenham Stadium . In Isleworth the course turns at a 90 degree angle to the east, and then flows into the Thames at Isleworth Ait .
