Duncan Bush

Duncan Bush (born April 6, 1946 in Cardiff , Glamorganshire , † August 18, 2017 in Marlborough ) was a Welsh writer .

Life

He worked as a construction worker, crane operator, pipelayer and radio editor. From 1974 to 1978 he studied English and European literature at Warwick University . In 1976/77 he was an exchange student at Duke University in Durham , North Carolina ( USA ). He completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts . From 1978 to 1981 he received his PhD in English literature from Wadham College , Oxford . This was followed by a job as a tutor and lecturer at various colleges. In the late 1980s he was a lecturer in cultural studies at Gwent College of Higher Education in Newport .

He became vice chairman of the Welsh Union of Writers . Bush published essays, poems, short stories, plays, articles, and novels. He also translated from Italian and French .

In 1974 and 1984 he received the Welsh Arts Council Poetry Prize . The Eric Gregory Award for Poetry followed in 1975 .
