The Dunkerque Seaways is a ferry of the DFDS Seaways shipping company that was commissioned as Maersk Dunkerque in 2005 and has been operating under this name on the route from Dover to Dunkerque since 2010 .

history

The Maersk Dunkerque was launched on December 29, 2004 under the construction number 1523 in the shipyard of the Samsung Shipyard in Geoje . The delivery to the Norfolkline took place on September 27, 2005, the commissioning between Dunkerque and Dover in November 2005. The ferry is the lead ship of the Mærsk D-class, which consists of three units .

On January 11, 2006, the Maersk Dunkerque failed due to machine problems. On February 18 of the same year further problems with the propulsion of the ship occurred, because of which the ferry finally went to Dunkerque for repairs on February 27. After the brief return to service on March 5, 2006, the Maersk Dunkerque had to return to the shipyard for repairs on March 8, this time in the port of Rotterdam . On March 12, 2006, the ship was finally able to resume ferry service.

After the Norfolkline was taken over by DFDS and the shipping company was dissolved, Maersk Dunkerque was renamed Dunkerque Seaways . The takeover did not change the route from Dover to Dunkerque.
