The Dark Fir Lackporling or dark Lackporling for short ( Ganoderma carnosum ) is a species of fungus from the family of the Lackporling (Ganodermataceae).
features
The Dunkle Lackporling is a coarse mushroom with an approximately 5–20 cm high hat that sits on a (mostly) lateral stem. The cap of the fruiting body is about 1–3 cm thick. The fruit body is covered with a red to dark brown resin layer. This layer of resin melts in a match or lighter flame. The edge of the fungus is white to yellowish-orange, the underside consists of a whitish layer of pores, about 3–4 pores per mm. The clear stem (sometimes only formed as a stem-shaped base) is dark red to black-brown, but in contrast to the very closely related shiny lacquer porling, it does not shimmer purple. The fruiting bodies are annual.
Species delimitation
The dark lacquer pore belongs to the complex around the glossy lacquer pom that is difficult to separate from each other and is possibly just a variety or site form of this species. Only specimens that clearly grow on silver fir can definitely be assigned to this form. According to Breitenbach and Kränzlin, the spore sizes of the two species are slightly different.
Ecology and phenology
The Dunkle Lackporling is a saprobiont or weak parasite on coniferous wood, in particular silver fir , less often on spruce or other coniferous wood, according to literature it can also occur on hardwood, but it is very difficult to clearly differentiate such finds from Ganoderma lucidum . The Dark Lackporling occurs in beech-fir, fir-spruce and fir forests mainly on soils rich in bases. Outside of forests, the species can be found in gardens, parks, and cemeteries if suitable host trees are available.
The fruiting bodies appear from July to September, sometimes a little earlier (from May).
distribution
The Dark Lackporling is widespread in Europe and Asia (Urals, Kazakhstan, Caucasus), in Europe mainly Carpathian and Herzyno-Alpine, in Germany it is only known from Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
meaning
The dark lacquer porling is out of the question as an edible mushroom, as a wood pest it is insignificant.
