Duplicatus (du) ( Latin for "doubled") are cloud patches, fields or layers of clouds that are arranged close together and sometimes partially grown together. This name is mainly used for Cirrus , Cirrostratus , Altocumulus , Altostratus and Stratocumulus . It can only be seen from the ground in rare cases, for example when the lower layer of cloud shows holes.
