Special forms

Incus (inc) ( Latin : “anvil”) is the upper part of a cumulonimbus cloud that has spread in the form of an anvil with a smooth, fibrous or striped appearance. The shape of the cloud arises from the fact that the upper part of the cloud is largely frozen and has expanded horizontally at the tropopause .
