The Technical University of Durban ( English Durban University of Technology ), short DUT , is a technical university in Durban , KwaZulu-Natal , South Africa . It was founded in 2002 by merging with the institutions Technikon Natal and ML Sultan Technikon , previously known as the Durban Institute of Technology . In 2018, around 31,203 students were enrolled.
The Chancellor is Nonkululeko Nyembezi.

The university is run by a senior management team headed by the Vice Chancellor. Further members are deputy vice chancellors, deans and the registrar . The management is responsible to the university council .
There are six faculties , which are spread across different campus areas:
- Brickfield Campus, Durban: University Library
- City Campus, Durban: Faculty of Humanities
- Indumiso Campus, Pietermaritzburg : University sports
- ML Sultan Campus, Durban: Faculty of Accounting and Computer Science
- Ritson Campus, Durban: Faculty of Health Sciences , Faculty of Administrative Sciences
- Riverside Campus, Pietermaritzburg: School of Education
- Steve Biko Campus, Durban: Faculty of Applied Science , Faculty of Engineering , Center for Excellence in Teaching (CELT)
