The Duwenbeek (also Duvenbach) is the largest flowing water on the island of Rügen . The creek begins on the northern outskirts of Bergen on Rügen , flows around the Nonnensee on its eastern side and flows into the Koselower See off the island of Ummanz and thus into the Baltic Sea . It flows through the Rügen communities of Bergen auf Rügen, Parchtitz and Kluis and partially forms the borders of the communities of Bergen, Trent and Gingst .

Renaturation

On the occasion of the world exhibition EXPO 2000 , the project Habitats - The Duwenbeek project for the renaturation of the brook was launched. Parts of this project were the renewal of the Nonnensee, the construction of a plant-based sewage treatment plant at the manor house in Boldevitz and a stone dam to reduce the flow speed of the stream in the reed belt of the Koselower See.
