Dylan Ferguson (born September 20, 1998 in Lantzville , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League since September 2017 and plays for the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League .

Career

Ferguson spent his junior years in the Saskatoon Midget Hockey League with the Notre Dame Hounds until the summer of 2015 . From there, the goalkeeper moved to the Western Hockey League for the 2015/16 season after being selected by the Kamloops Blazers in their Bantam Draft . In his rookie season he acted there as a back-up for Connor Ingram and came to 16 missions, in which he only managed four wins. In the 2016/17 season he was again the substitute for Ingrams, but was able to increase to 31 missions and improved his statistical values significantly compared to the previous year.

In June 2017, the goalkeeper was selected in the seventh round of the NHL Entry Draft 2017 in 194th place by the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League . The stars transferred their draft pick and a second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2020 but only a few days after the NHL Expansion Draft 2017 in exchange for Marc Methot to the newly founded Vegas Golden Knights . However, Ferguson initially saw them as a player in order to strengthen himself in this position, and after signing the contract in September, at the beginning of the 2017/18 season , left the 19-year-old initially with the Kamloops Blazers in the junior division, where he became a regular player was. At the end of October 2017 Ferguson was finally summoned to the NHL squad of the Golden Knights under emergency conditions after they had to complain in the goalkeeping position of the injuries-related failures of Marc-André Fleury , Malcolm Subban and Oscar Dansk . He acted there until mid-November as a substitute for the regular fourth goalkeeper Maxime Lagacé and came on November 14 for a nine-minute short assignment against the Edmonton Oilers .
