EFAF Atlantic Cup
The EFAF Atlantic Cup was a European Cup - sport competition for European club teams in American football . The EFAF Atlantic Cup was next to the EFL and the EFAF Cup, the third club competition of the European Federation of American Football (EFAF). It was held from 2009 to 2014.
Atlantic Cup
Under the umbrella of the EFAF , comparable to the UI Cup in soccer, European football teams from the highest national leagues competed against each other in an annual competition and played for the EFAF Atlantic Cup . While the Atlantic Cup was aimed at teams from the north-western EFAF member countries, the parallel EFAF Challenge Cup is aimed at the teams from the south-eastern EFAF members. In 2015, the Atlantic Cup Group left the EFAF and joined the German Football League International , which already hosts the former EFAF Big6 EuroBowl and European Football League competitions. Since then, the competition has been held as the GFL International Atlantic Cup .
Participants are champions or runners-up of the "small" football nations as well as other high-ranking teams from the national leagues. The four participating teams play a tournament in a knockout system.
