The English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) (also short English Premier League (EPL), also English National Premier League , until 2000 also English League Premier Division ) was a semi-professional ice hockey league in England and was created by the English Ice Hockey Association organized.
The league was founded in 1998 with eight participating teams as the third division of the United Kingdom by splitting the English League into a Premier Division and Division 1 .
Since the dissolution of the British National League in 2005, the league has been considered the second highest British division behind the Elite Ice Hockey League , although there is no promotion or relegation between the two divisions.
In the 2014/15 season, ten teams took part in the game. The game is played first in normal league operations, followed by a play-off round. In addition, a knockout cup competition, the English Cup, will be held.
After the 2016/17 season, the English Premier Ice Hockey League was dissolved. The Milton Keynes Lightning and Guildford Flames joined the Elite Ice Hockey League , Manchester Phoenix disbanded, and the remaining seven teams became part of the National Ice Hockey League .
