Eastside Boys is a German Oi! - / Punk band from Berlin . She is currently under contract with Sunny Bastards and has so far released four studio albums as well as a few other releases.

history

The band was founded in 1993 in Saxon Switzerland . The band name has only existed since 1998 and primarily refers to the band's origins in eastern Germany.

In 1999 the band recorded the single The Last in the pub in Loikaemie's rehearsal room . The single was released in 2001 through Bandworm Records . In 2002 the debut album Echte Helden was released , also via Bandworm Records.

In 2003, Rich, the first band member, moved to Berlin. Roman and Bert followed suit in 2004. The move also had a major impact on the band's image and lyrics, which have since been characterized by a reference to Berlin's musical subculture. Frequent appearances took place in SO36 and Wild at Heart. In 2004, Die Zeit ist ripe followed, the band's second album on DSS Records . Since 2006 the Eastside Boys have a new drummer. Since then, all band members have lived in Berlin-Friedrichshain .

In 2007 the third album The Boys Are Back in Town was released , which was recorded for the first time in the studio and under the direction of producer Harris Johns . The cover artwork was designed by Sammy Amara ( Broilers ). For the album, the band returned to Bandworm Records. Then the group switched to Sunny Bastards. Companeros appeared there in 2010 ! , a split CD with the band Lousy .

Her last album to date, Irgendwas ist immer , was released in 2014 and was again produced by Harris Johns. The associated video for No Punk in Your City achieved a surprisingly high number of hits on YouTube for a German underground punk band with around 85,000 clicks. The video shows local personalities from Berlin and the surrounding area. Band members from Volxsturm and Berliner Weisse can also be heard as guests on the album .

style

Eastside Boys play a mix of catchy and simple Oi! and punk rock. As is usual for the genre, the texts were initially characterized by a strong local patriotism, which gave way to a strong subcultural reference at the latest in 2004, after moving to Berlin. The band often uses subtle lyrics that are often characterized by a certain form of sarcasm and self-irony . The band was influenced by, among others, Die Lokalmatadore , Bombshell Rocks , Cock Sparrer , Rancid and Church of Confidence .
