Easy Star All-Stars is a Jamaican reggae collective founded by Michael Goldwasser, Eric Smith, Lem Oppenheimer and Remy Gerstein from the New York label Easy Star Records .
history
The formation was originally founded as a studio band for the music label founded in 1997 and accompanied numerous artists on their recordings. With its own productions and cover versions , the collective, supported by several singers and musicians, has been performing internationally for many years at well-known events of reggae, ska and rasta culture , in over 30 countries in North and South America , Africa , Australia , Asia and Europe .
The in-house productions of the Easy Star All-Stars are predominantly conversions of well-known albums by well-known musicians into their own reggae and dub culture . For example, the published 2003 debut album based Dub Side of the Moon on the album The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd . The second album from 2006 was based on the album OK Computer , the title Radiodread is a play on words with the associated band name of the original artists Radiohead and Dreads , the typical strands of curly felt of Rasta culture. The album Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009) is based on Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band of the Beatles .
The EP Until That Day , released in 2008, contains original compositions except for the last track Dubbing Up the Walls from the album Radiodread . First Light , released in 2011, is the formation's first album with their own songs.
