Ebbe Schwartz

Ebbe Schwartz (born May 3, 1901 , † October 19, 1964 at Waikiki Beach in Honolulu , Hawaii ) was a Danish football functional . Among other things, he was the founding president of the European football association UEFA .

Career

Schwartz was a member of the Danish football club AB Copenhagen from 1913 until his death in 1964, where he held the office of treasurer from 1948 to 1955. From 1950 until his death he was President of the Danish Football Association DBU . Furthermore, Schwartz was the first president of the European football association UEFA from 1954 to 1962 , then from 1962 to 1964 a member of the executive committee and vice president of the world football association FIFA .

Ebbe Schwartz, who came from the bourgeois sports movement in Copenhagen , was an excellent mediator during his UEFA presidency. Contemporaries saw him as a comradely and soulful fellow man. As a sports enthusiast he was u. a. Visitors to the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 . On his way home, on a stopover in Hawaii , the sports official died. Ebbe Schwartz, who was only 63 years old at the time, died of a heart attack.
