Eberhard Dülfer

Eberhard Dülfer (born March 14, 1924 in Elberfeld , today Wuppertal , † May 26, 2016 ) was a German economist .

Life

Dülfer grew up as the seventh child of an upper-class family, attended the humanistic grammar school, enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and survived two shipwrecks. From 1950 studied Dülfer economics in Marburg and was there in 1956 with the theme "type character and size development of commercial credit unions in West Germany" doctorate . After his habilitation at the Philipps University of Marburg, Dülfer worked as a private lecturer at the Philipps University of Marburg .

In 1964 he became professor for general business administration as well as industry and fiduciary management at the Technical University of Darmstadt . In 1967 he was appointed to the University of Marburg . There he headed the department for general business administration and industrial management until his retirement . From 1967 to 1991 Dülfer was director of the Institute for Cooperation in Developing Countries and from 1967 to 2000 a member of the board of the Institute for Cooperatives at the University of Marburg. He was visiting professor at the University of Venice, ITESM Mexico City, University of Minsk, University of Maribor, and TU Chemnitz, among others.

On May 19, 2004, at the request of the Faculty of Law and Economics, the Technical University of Darmstadt awarded Dülfer in recognition of “his outstanding academic achievements in the fields of general business administration, cooperative management and international management, as well as the special merits that he achieved through the application of his research results in international economic development projects ”, the honorary doctorate . Dülfer received the same honor from the University of Kuopio . In 2006 he received the anniversary doctorate from the University of Marburg. He was a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the New York Academy of Sciences .

He has published numerous works, including his textbook “International Management in Different Cultural Areas” - a standard work. Dülfer published his memoirs under the title “Leash!” - An eventful life on water and on land in Salzwasser-Verlag in 2009.
