Eberhard Höngen

Eberhard Höngen (born March 23, 1944 in Wiesbaden ) is a German choir director , composer and arranger .

Life

Höngen grew up in a musical family, his father was active as a choir director and organist , and one of the relatives was the opera singer Elisabeth Höngen . Höngen trained as a choir director with Hermannjosef Rübben and took over his first smaller choirs in Remscheid in 1964 . He then became the director of the Lippe Choir of the Lippe Choir. It was during this time that his first published compositions were written.

From 1985 he was a district choir director in Tübingen for a few years and directed several choirs in the region. As an arranger, he wrote choral pieces for Maria Lullaby by Max Reger , Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis and Memory by Andrew Lloyd Webber . In 2010 Höngen was awarded the Medal of Honor of the City of Pfullingen. To this day he is active as a choir director, composer and arranger. Höngen is one of the longest serving still active choir directors in Germany. The then seventy-year-old celebrated his 50th anniversary of the choir director in 2014 with anniversary concerts with four choirs and over 150 singers in Pfullingen and Oberensingen .
