Eberhard Henne

Eberhard Henne (born April 30, 1943 in Großwerther , County of Hohenstein , Province of Saxony ) is a German veterinarian , conservationist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school in Nordhausen , Henne first completed an internship with a degree in cattle farming. He then studied veterinary medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1969/70 he worked as an assistant at various veterinary institutions. He worked from 1970 to 1990 as a practicing veterinarian in the district Angermünde and his doctorate in 1977 for Dr. med. vet. (Dissertation: Investigations into the endoparasite fauna in wild boar ).

Henne, who has been volunteering in nature conservation since 1965, was in 1990/91 the department head for nature conservation, environmental protection, tourism and hunting in the Angermünde district administration. In September 1991 he became head of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve . From 2000 to 2009 he was chairman of the board of EUROPARC Germany , the umbrella organization of the German national parks , biosphere reserves and nature parks .

He lives in the Greiffenberg district of Angermünde .

politics

Henne joined the SPD and was appointed Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Regional Planning on November 11, 1998 in the government of the State of Brandenburg led by Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe . After the formation of a grand coalition , he left office on October 13, 1999 and was replaced as Environment Minister by Wolfgang Birthler .
