Eberhard Sauppe

Eberhard Sauppe (born December 5, 1924 in Möhrsdorf near Kamenz ( Saxony ), † June 18, 2014 in Hanover ) was a German librarian and university professor .

Live and act

Eberhard Sauppe was the only child of his parents Walter and Johanna Sauppe. After graduating from high school in 1944, he studied English, Russian, Italian and German philology at the University of Leipzig from 1945 to 1950. He received the state examination for higher teaching post in 1949. From 1951 to 1952 he trained as a scientific librarian at the German State Library in East Berlin , where he worked until 1958. Sauppe received his doctorate in 1955 from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Leipzig on Wordsworth's turn to nature and country life . In 1958 he and his family fled to West Berlin. He worked at the library of the Technical University of Karlsruhe (now the KIT library ) until 1967 , before moving to the Technical Information Library in Hanover, where he was deputy head for a long time. From 1979 he founded and shaped the librarianship course at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences (today Hanover University ). During his time as professor from 1980 to 1985, he mainly taught library management. Despite his retirement, he was still teaching and advising at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences until 1992.
