Eberhard Taube from Odenkat

Eberhard Taube von Odenkat (also Evert or Ewert Taube af Odenkat; * around 1622 in Estonia ; † 1692 ) was Lord of Odenkat and Machters in Estonia, Swedish colonel and district administrator in Estonia. In 1668 he was accepted into the baron class of the Swedish nobility .

Life

His grandfather was Loff Taube (1550-1590), who emerged as the progenitor of the noble family of Taube Etz-Issen . His father was Eberhard Taube auf Machters (1604–1656) and his mother was Anna von Vietinghoff (* 1604). His son Eberhard inherited the Odenkat estate and founded the Taube von Odenkat family. In 1640 Eberhard Taube married Katharina Wrangel zu Sauss (* 1629); as heir to Odenkat, he was followed by his son Eberhard Friedrich Taube von Odenkat (1648–1703).

Career

Eberhard Taube in 1645 regimental quartermaster in Kalmar - Regiment . With the promotion to colonel , he took over as regimental commander of a dragoon regiment and command of the Livonian cavalry . From 1672 he was an Estonian district administrator .

Good Odenkat

The village and the Odenkat estate ( Estonian : Ohekatku) are 58 kilometers southeast of Reval and cover about 2232 hectares of farmland. It was first mentioned in 1241 as the village of Othengat, the Odenkatke farm was only mentioned in 1453. From 1457 it was called Hof Odenkotte and from 1586 only the village existed. In the 17th century Eberhard Taube reestablished it. Today the farm and the village are united and bear the name Ohekatku.
