Eberhard Friedrich Taube von Odenkat (also Evert Fredrik von Taube-Odenkat; * 1648 in Stockholm ; † October 9, 1703 in Karlskrona ) was Baron von Odenkat and admiral of the Swedish Navy . He came from the German-Baltic-Swedish noble family von Taube auf Odenkat .

Career

His military career began in the Royal Navy . He then served from 1672 as a second lieutenant in the Swedish Admiralty and was promoted to first lieutenant in 1672 . On November 7, 1674, he gained the rank of captain and in 1676 that of commander . With the promotion to major he took part in several expeditions to Gotland . On June 13, 1678 he was promoted to Admiralty Lieutenant and continued to serve in the Navy. In 1691 he was promoted to vice admiral. In 1692 he was with a royal decree of Charles XI. (1655–1697) raised to the status of Swedish baron. His last promotion took place on March 23, 1700 as admiral. He commanded the sailing warship Mars in 1676 , the Admiral's ship Draken in 1677 , the Ulrica in 1689, the ship of the line in 1690 and the ship of the line Drottning Ulrica Eleonora in 1700.

family

His parents were the district administrator Eberhard Taube von Odenkat (around 1622–1692) and Elisabeth Wrangel zu Sauss (* 1629). Eberhard Fredrik was married to Beate Elisabet Wrangel von Adinal, a daughter of Dietrich Wrangell , and they had six sons and nine daughters. His son Eberhard Diedrich Taube von Odenkat (1681–1751) was raised to the Swedish count status and was also an admiral.
