Eberhard Diedrich Count Taube von Odenkat (also Evert Didrik Taube af Odenkat ; * December 13, 1681 in Turinge , Sweden , † 1751 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish count , member of the Swedish Imperial Council and Imperial Admiral . He came from the Baltic-Swedish noble family von Taube auf Odenkat and was a knight of the Royal Order of Seraphin .

Career

He joined the Swedish Navy at a young age . He went through several training and expedition trips and became vice admiral in 1715 . In 1718 he took over command of the Stockholm squadron and was promoted to admiral in 1719 . His next role was from 1731 to 1734 as head of the Swedish Admiralty . In 1737 he was accepted into the Swedish Imperial Council and promoted to Imperial Admiral ( Swedish : "öfverste amiral"). On December 12, 1734, the elevation to the Swedish count took place. From 1734 to 1739 he was active in the Imperial Council.

He was the son of the Swedish admiral and baron Eberhard Friedrich Taube von Odenkat (1648–1703) and his wife Beate Elisabeth Wrangel von Adinal (around 1650–1680). In 1710 he married Christina Maria Falkenberg (1685–1753) and had nine children with her. His first son Diedrich Heinrich Taube von Odenkat (1711–1781) also became an admiral, his second son Arvid Gustaf Taube von Odenkat , with whom the Count's House of Odenkat continued in male succession, became court marshal at the Swedish royal court . His sister Hedwig Ulrike Taube von Odenkat (1714–1744) went down in history as the mistress of the Swedish King Frederick of Sweden .
