The ECCO Group , managed by ECCO Sko A / S (German: ECCO Schuh Aktiengesellschaft ) with headquarters in Denmark , is one of the world's largest producers of shoes and one of the world's largest shoe retailers. It is active in all segments of the shoe market and is one of the world market leaders in sports shoes . The core business area are shoes in which the soles are injected directly onto the preformed upper parts under pressure.

history

The company was founded in Bredebro in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy. ECCO Sko A / S has been a supplier to the Royal Danish Court since 1991 . As of 2004, the ECCO stores in Germany were converted to the franchise system.

structure

Ecco is consistently family-owned and run to this day. The sole owner and chairman of the supervisory board since June 1996 is Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak , the daughter of Birte and Karl Toosbuy.

The ECCO Group consists of ECCO Holding , the central ECCO Sko A / S , ECCO USA Inc. and ECCO Asia Ltd. In addition, a foundation , the Toosbuy's Foundation, was set up.

Ecco has its own leather tanneries in the Netherlands, Indonesia and Thailand, as well as its own production sites in Slovakia, Portugal, Indonesia, Thailand and China. The leather division is one of the world market leaders in leather for clothing, bags and gloves, and it also supplies other shoe manufacturers.

The operational business is divided into eleven relatively independently operating business units:

  • five sales regions : ECCO Western Europe (Benelux countries, Great Britain and Southern Europe, headquarters in Rosmalen , Netherlands), ECCO Central Europe (German-speaking area and Scandinavia, headquarters in Tønder , Denmark), ECCO Eastern and Central Europe (with headquarters in Warsaw , Poland), ECCO America (based in Manchester (New Hampshire) , USA), ECCO Asia / Pacific (based in Hong Kong , China)
  • five production units : ECCO Portugal in Feira , ECCO Slovakia in Martin , ECCO Indonesia in Surabaya , ECCO Thailand in Ayutthaya and ECCO Xiamen in Xiamen , China.
  • a leather division: the ECCO Leather Group with around 100 employees was acquired in 2001, is headquartered in Dongen , the Netherlands, and includes the tannery and a development center.

The ECCO headquarters remains responsible for brand, product and concept development, central functions such as logistics, IT, asset management, tax and legal matters as well as support and control of the business units.

Key figures

Every year Ecco sells 15 million shoes in over 3000 sales outlets . The turnover is around 4.47 billion Danish kroner (600 million euros, as of 2006). The company employs around 13,000 people worldwide (2006). As of 2006, the company has produced more than 200 million shoes worldwide since it was founded.

Sales of more than 20 million pairs of shoes are reported for 2013.
