"Ecco" Meineke (* 1961 in Kaufbeuren ) is a German artist who works in a wide variety of genres. As a soul, jazz and chanson singer, he is also known under the extended stage name Ecco DiLorenzo .

music

While still at school, the Munich Ludwigsgymnasium , Ecco Meineke met the later TV presenter and songwriter Werner Schmidbauer . The two became an integral part of the Bavarian cabaret scene as the duo "Jedermann" and performed more than 800 performances from 1978 to 1985 (including the Michael Schanze Show ). Even after that they worked together. B. together with the Irish singer Valery McLeary in the comedy trio "Folksfest".

In 1987 Ecco Meineke founded the 11-person soul formation “Innersoul” and called himself “Ecco DiLorenzo” as a singer. In the course of the 80s he founded various bands. With the Bully-Herbig guitarist Dieter Holesch, he played the “Good Time Blues” duo through the clubs. In 2000 the two received the film music contract for "Bully" Herbig's film Der Schuh des Manitu . Meineke / DiLorenzo contributed the lyrics and sang all male vocal tracks. In 1994 he founded the klezmer group “Die Shtetlmusikanten” together with clarinetist Andreas Arnold .

In 1995 Meineke ventured into the jazz scene with a Nat King Cole program.

From 1996 to 1997 he was a participant in the comedy quiz Quast - The very last from all over the world on Bavarian television .

In 2000 his singer-songwriter album "The Third Monday" was released. For this he received the German Folk Promotion Prize .

In 2004 Ecco Meineke became a member of the “ Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft ” ensemble . For 7 years and 5 programs he wrote texts and was on stage.

In 2010 Meineke was called to the “polittbüro” theater in Hamburg. There he took part in the revue project “The 7 Deadly Sins” in order to share the role of Elbphilharmonie director “DuMont” with Gustav Peter Wöhler.

In 2010 Meineke, alias “Maurice Brox”, gave club concerts with the singer-songwriter project “Anthony's Garden”. At the end of 2011, “Anthony's Garden” released their first album how to grow a plant .

With his "Ecco DiLorenzo Jazz Quartet" he released the album Selffulfilling Prophecies in 2012 with his own German lyrics.

For the reopening of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich in autumn 2013, Meineke was awarded the contract to design the temporary art platform Schaustelle / Schauing. Realized with over thirty artists from the fields of sculpture / drama / film / blues / light projection / agit-prop and hip-hop, the area was transformed into a Dadaist reflection of the Oktoberfest.

In October 2015 the album Soultrain BaBaDee by "Ecco DiLorenzo and his Innersoul" was released.
