Eckhard Grimmel

Eckhard Grimmel (* 25. October 1941 in Bevensen ) is a German geographer and emeritus professor of geography at the University of Hamburg .

Life

From 1960 to 1968 Grimmel studied geography , geology , soil science , philosophy , education and English in Hamburg . From 1968 to 1970 he was a teacher at two high schools in Hamburg.

In 1971 he received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg on "Geomorphological investigations in the north-eastern Lüneburg Heath ". From 1977 to 2006 he was Professor of Geography at the University of Hamburg.

Since 1979 he has been advising citizens and municipalities in planning and administrative court proceedings against nuclear power plants , nuclear interim and final storage facilities and advising parliaments and ministries on matters relating to the disposal of radioactive waste. Grimmel also dealt with questions of earthquake safety of the use of nuclear energy.

Eckhard Grimmel is a supporter of Silvio Gesell's free economy and co-initiator of the German Free Trade Association .
