Eckhart Pick

Eckhart Pick (born February 8, 1941 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and professor of civil law .

From 1998 to 2002 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Justice .

Life and work

Eckhart Pick is the son of the free religious pastor Georg Pick . After attending the elementary schools in Ingelheim and Mainz-Mombach and subsequent Abitur in 1960 at the Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium in Mainz, Pick completed a degree in philosophy and law at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , which he completed in 1965 with the first and after completing the Legal clerkship ended in 1968 with the second state examination in law. From 1966 he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Mainz. In 1969 he received his doctorate here as Dr. jur. with the work The Efforts of the Estates for a constant election surrender and their result in 1711 . After working as an assistant professor from 1972 , Pick completed his habilitation in 1976 with the work Mainzer Reichsstaatsrecht - Inhalt und Methode; a contribution to the Ius publicum at the University of Mainz in the 18th century . From 1978 he was a professor and scientific advisor in the Faculty of Law I at the University of Hamburg . In 1980 he accepted the position of professor for civil law, commercial law and legal history at the University of Mainz . He is u. a. Author of comments on the Condominium Act.

Eckhart Pick is married and has two children.

Political party

In 1963 Pick joined the SPD. From 1987 to 1995 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Mainz.

MP

Pick was a member of the Mainz city council from 1969 to 1998 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1983 to 1986 . From October 1985 to February 1987 he was also a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

From 1987 to 2002 Pick was a member of the German Bundestag . He is in the federal election in 1998 as directly selected delegates of the constituency before Mainz and always on the country's list of Rhineland-Palatinate in the Bundestag drawn in.

Public offices

On October 27, 1998, Pick was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Justice in the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . After the federal election in 2002 , he left office on October 22, 2002.

Honor

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate honored him in 1986 with the award of the Freiherr vom Stein plaque .
