Eckhart Pick (born February 8, 1941 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and professor of civil law .

From 1998 to 2002 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Justice .

Life and work

Eckhart Pick is the son of the free religious pastor Georg Pick . After attending the elementary schools in Ingelheim and Mainz-Mombach and subsequent Abitur in 1960 at the Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium in Mainz, Pick completed a degree in philosophy and law at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , which he completed in 1965 with the first and after completing the Legal clerkship ended in 1968 with the second state examination in law. From 1966 he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Mainz. Pick was a member of the Mainz city ​​council from 1969 to 1998 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1983 to 1986 . From October 1985 to February 1987 he was also a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .
