Ed Soph
Edward Bingham Soph (* 21st March 1945 in Coronado , California ) is an American jazz - drummer and teacher.
Ed Soph was a member of the bands of Stan Kenton , Woody Herman , Bill Watrous and Clark Terry . He also worked as a sideman with Randy Brecker , Ingrid Jensen , Red Rodney , Bobby Shew , Marvin Stamm , Ira Sullivan , Pat LaBarbera , David Liebman , Dave Pietro , Carl Fontana , Slide Hampton , Jiggs Whigham , Bill Evans , Stefan Karlsson and Bill Mays .
Soph teaches as an Associate Professor at the College of Music at the University of North Texas . He has published several textbooks and films for drumming.
