Edan Leshem ( Hebrew עידן לשם; Born March 19, 1997 in New York City ) is an Israeli tennis player .

Career

Edan Leshem mainly plays on the lower-class Future and Challenger Tours. So far, he has won seven singles and one double title on the Future Tour. At the side of Jeremy Jahn he made it into the double final of the Challenger tournament in Ortisei in Val Gardena in October 2017 . There they had to admit defeat to number 1 seeded duo Sander Arends and Antonio Šančić despite several match points in the match tie-break .

In 2017 Leshem made his debut on the ATP World Tour in Washington . By winning against Alex Rybakov and Alejandro González in qualifying , he made it into the main draw of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament on his first attempt . After a good first set, he finally had to admit defeat Marcos Baghdatis in two sets in the first round .

Leshem has played for the Israeli Davis Cup team since 2015 . He has an individual balance of 1: 4 and a balance of 0: 1 in doubles. In 2014 he made it to the final of the Israeli tennis championships, but lost there against defending champion Dudi Sela with 1: 6, 2: 6. In July 2017 he reached his best place in the world rankings with a 262nd place .
