Edderton ( Gaelic : Eardardan ) is a village in the Scottish Council Area Highland in the traditional county of Ross-shire . It is near the Dornoch Firth about eight miles north of Invergordon and 22 miles north of Inverness . The A9 , which connects Edinburgh to Thurso , spans the Dornoch Firth just a few kilometers from Edderton.
Edderton has been home to the Balblair whiskey distillery since 1790 . A few hundred meters northeast of Edderton is the Bronze Age menhir Clach Biorach . There is a Pictish symbol stone in the old cemetery .
