Eddie Hall

Edward "Eddie" Hall (born January 15, 1988 in Newcastle-under-Lyme ) is an English strongman and former world record holder in the deadlift .

biography

Hall started out as a bodybuilder before switching to powerlifting . In 2010 his friend and fellow competitor Dave Meer was unable to take part in the England Championships due to an injury and made sure that Hall took his place, who narrowly but won the competition, because the minimal lead over the runner-up was only one half point. In 2011, Hall was also able to win the UK's Strongest Man competition, which has been held annually in Belfast since 2005 . He also won in the following years in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

He set the world record in the deadlift in March 2015 at the Arnold Classic in Columbus (Ohio) with 462 kg. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger was present to cheer him and congratulate. Shortly thereafter, he broke his own record at 463 kg (1020.74 lb) at the 2015 World Deadlift Championships with a body weight of 172 kg.

At the World Deadlift Championships on July 9, 2016, he set his record in the deadlift and became the first person to lift 500 kg (1102.31 lbs).
