Edward Allison "Cally" McCalmon (born May 30, 1902 in Varney , Ontario , † April 23, 1987 in Calgary , Alberta ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who during his active career between 1927 and 1931, among other things, 39 games for the Chicago Black Hawks and Philadelphia Quakers in the National Hockey League on the right winger position .

Career

McCalmon spent most of his career in the province of Saskatchewan with the Lumsden Athletic Club, the Regina Victorias and finally from 1923 to 1927 at the University of Saskatchewan , where he was active in addition to his studies for the university's ice hockey program.

For the 1927/28 season, the winger switched to the professional field and joined the Saskatoon Sheiks from the Prairie Hockey League . Although he only played twelve of 28 games for the team, he was able to recommend himself with eight goals, since he was transferred to the National Hockey League in January 1928 . Together with Earl Miller , he was given to the Chicago Black Hawks in exchange for Nick Wasnie and Corb Denneny . There he finished the season and scored two goals for the team in 23 games.

McCalmon then moved back to the Minor Leagues , where he was active between 1928 and 1930 for the Tulsa Oilers in the Amateur Hockey Association and the Toronto Millionaires in the International Hockey League . On December 15, 1930, the attacker returned to the NHL when he - like D'Arcy Coulson - were hired as free agents to give the team more stability. The 16 games for the Quakers, in which he scored three goals, were his last games before retiring.

McCalmon died April 23, 1987 at the age of 84 years in Calgary on a cancer .
