Eddy Herrera
Eddy Herrera (born April 30, 1964 in Santiago de los Caballeros , Dominican Republic ), actually Eduardo José Herrera de los Ríos, is a Dominican merengue and bachata musician .
Career
Herrera started his musical career early by participating in various singing competitions. At the age of 15 he won the Festival de la Voz in his hometown of Santiago de Los Caballeros. Herrera studied architecture for a few semesters at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra before joining Wilfrido Vargas' band against his mother's wishes. His first big international hit was "El Jardinero". From 1984 to 1990 Herrera was active in the Vargas group. In 1990 he began a solo career after signing with the record label MP Records. In 2008 Herrera made a major tour through Venezuela , Curaçao , Aruba , Peru , Ecuador , Panama , Costa Rica and in the USA to cities such as Houston , New Orleans , Atlanta , New York City , Boston and Los Angeles .
Prizes and awards
Herrera won the Casandra Award for best male artist seven times.
