Vladimir Fekete SDB (born August 11, 1955 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak religious and apostolic prefect of Azerbaijan based in Baku .

Life

Vladimir Fekete joined the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco after studying mathematics and geology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Comenius University in Bratislava and made his profession on February 15, 1975 . On 30 January 1983 he received by the Berlin Bishop Wolfgang Weider , the ordination . He graduated in Catholic theology from the University of Vienna (Masters 1995) and from the Catholic University of Lublin ( Licentiate 1999). From 1999 to 2005 Fekete was Provincial of the Salesians in Slovakia. After completing a didactic training at the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Rome , he was the Novice Master of the Salesians in Poprad since 2006 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 5, 2009 as superior of the Mission sui juris of Baku and thus as a representative of the Roman Catholic Church in Azerbaijan . On August 4, 2011, he became Apostolic Prefect of Azerbaijan with the increase of the Mission sui juris to the Apostolic Prefecture .

Pope Francis raised him to the rank of bishop on December 8, 2017 and appointed him titular bishop of Municipa . The episcopal ordination received his Curia Archbishop Paul Gallagher on 11 February of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Bratislava , Stanislav Zvolenský , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Greece, Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai SDB.

He speaks Slovak, Russian, Polish and Italian.
