Edgaras Rybakovas (also Edgar Rybakov ; born January 5, 1991 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Vilnius Hockey Punks in the Lithuanian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Life

He started to slide on the ice when he was 3.5 years old. His first team was the "Tigrai" Kaunas . At school, he especially liked math, geography, and sports. In 2003 he completed his diploma in youth policy project planning at the State University of Physical Culture in Moscow .

His younger brother Artūras Rybakovas is also a Lithuanian international.

Career

Clubs

Edgaras Rybakovas began his career as an ice hockey player with HK CSKA Moscow , for whose second team he played in the Pervaya League . He then played a season with the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League , who had selected him in the CHL Import Draft , the Dinamo Juniors Riga , with whom he became Latvian champion in 2010 and also got his first appearances in the Belarusian extra league, and the Austin Bruins in the North American Hockey League . In 2011 he returned to his hometown Vilnius and played with "Baltica" Vilnius in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League B for two years . He then moved to HK Lida in the Belarusian extra league, where he played for three years , with a short break that led him to HK Brest . Since 2016 he has been playing for the Vilnius Hockey Punks in the Lithuanian ice hockey league .

International

For Lithuania Rybakovas took part in the junior division for the first time in the U20 World Cup 2010 in Division II.

The center made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the 2014 World Cup in Division I, which was held in his hometown of Vilnius . In 2015 , 2017 and 2018 he also played in Division I. He also represented his Baltic homeland in qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and in the Baltic Cup in 2016 and 2017.
