Edino Nazareth Filho (born June 5, 1955 in Rio de Janeiro ), Edinho for short , is a former Brazilian soccer player and current coach .

Player career

He began his football career in 1967 as a defender at Fluminense FC in Rio de Janeiro, where he was taken on as a professional in 1975. In 1982 Edinho moved to Udinese Calcio and then played for this club until 1987. He then played again in Rio, this time at Flamengo Rio de Janeiro where he stayed from 1987 to 88. In 1987 they won the Copa União 1987 , the CBF denied the club the recognition as champions because they did not appear in a planned final. In 1988 he returned to Fluminense FC for a year and finally ended his football career in 1990 at Gremio Porto Alegre by winning the Copa do Brasil .

From 1977 to 1986 Edinho was called up 59 times for the national soccer team of Brazil and scored three goals for Brazil during that time. He finished third with his team at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. In 1976 he also played in his country's Olympic team.

Coaching career

After finishing his playing career, Edinho moved back to Fluminense in 1991 and began a coaching career at his favorite club. In total, he was a coach for this club three times (1991, 1993 and 1998). 1992 coach with Botafogo , 1993–1994 Marítimo Funchal in Portugal , 1994/95 then with Flamengo, 1996 with EC Vitória and 1997 with Portuguesa . Further stations were: 1998–2002 Grêmio Porto Alegre , 2002–2003 Goiás EC , 2003 EC Bahia and EC Vitória, 2004–2005 Brasiliense FC , 2005 Athletico Paranaense , Sport Recife and 2006–2007 again with Portuguesa. In 2009 Edinho worked as a trainer at Boavista Sport Club .
