Editha Hörandner

Editha Hörandner (born February 12, 1939 in Korneuburg , † June 20, 2008 in Graz ) was an Austrian folklorist .

Life

The daughter of Anna Klenk and the gendarmerie officer Anton Klenk studied after graduating from high school in 1957 from autumn 1957 at the University of Vienna , initially philosophy , English and German ; Study visit to Boston (winter semester 1958/1959); after the re-establishment of the Institute for Folklore in 1963, finally switched to Folklore and English Studies. During her studies she worked as a secretary (1959) and clerk at a bank (1963–1964). After graduating as Dr. phil. on July 7, 1966 ( terminology, methods and objectives of a Viennese folklore in connection with the presentation and classification of two modernized forms of custom ). From 1966 to 1968 she worked for the Society for the Austrian Folklore Atlas . From 1968 to 1986 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Folklore of the University of Vienna (1968–1975 as a contract employee , 1975–1986 as a civil servant). In 1972 she married the Byzantinist Wolfram Hörandner (1973 birth of daughter Magdalena). In the early 1980s she was a freelancer for ORF . From 1986 until her retirement in 2007, she taught at the University of Graz as a professor of folklore.
