Wolfram Hörandner

Wolfram Hörandner (born July 2, 1942 in Vienna ) is an Austrian Byzantinist .

Life

Wolfram Hörandner studied Classical Philology and Byzantine Studies at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1966 with Herbert Hunger with a dissertation on the transmission of the works of Theodoros Prodromos . In 1967 he became an assistant at the Institute for Byzantine and Neo-Greek Studies at the University of Vienna , in 1971 lecturer at the University of Salzburg , 1975 at the University of Vienna, university lecturer in 1980 after his habilitation with a work on Byzantine rhetoric and in 1987 associate professor .

His main research interests include Byzantine philology and Byzantine literature. With Johannes Diethart he edited the poems of Konstantinos Stilbes . Since the early phase of the Lexicon on Byzantine Graciousness , he has also played a key role in the work on this dictionary.

From 1992 to 2007 he was editor of the Yearbook of Austrian Byzantine Studies (1992–2000 together with Herbert Hunger , 2004–2007 together with Martin Hinterberger). From 2001 to 2011 he chaired the Commission pour le Corpus Fontium Historiae Byzantinae of the Association Internationale des Études Byzantines .
